History & Accomplishments of the CFR
Our History
The CFR was formed in 2017 as an outgrowth of the MGH PhD Steering committee which, since early 2002, served as a forum for a broad spectrum of primary investigators to identify challenges which impeded research and to develop solutions.
The primary objectives were to identify the specific areas for improvement, seek out those who could effect changes in policies and/or infrastructure and invite them to engage in a dialogue with the committee.
This often provided insight into the myriad reasons for the resulting policies, mandates or infrastructure and allowed for the formulation of solutions that benefited researchers and the hospital. Vetted, detailed plans and possible solutions were directed to the appropriate Administrative Personnel or directly to ECOR members for their consideration.
The recommendations and initiatives from the PhD steering committee has transformed the research enterprise at MGH and benefited researchers, staff, and hospital administration (see examples below). Moreover, our members have become leaders at high levels within ECOR and other committees, providing a voice for researchers and directly effecting change.
